Celtic have emerged as one of several sides monitoring the situation of Girona wide man Yaser Asprilla as the January transfer window gathers pace…

Interest in the Colombian attacker has intensified in recent weeks, with indications growing that his time in Spain could soon come to an end.
Asprilla, 22, only arrived at the La Liga outfit last summer in a deal worth around £16 million, but his spell has failed to deliver the expected impact. Spanish reporter Pipe Sierra has suggested a departure is close, describing the winger’s exit as approaching rapidly.

Alongside Celtic, Premier League outfit West Ham United and European heavyweights Ajax and Marseille have also been credited with an interest. Any move is expected to take the form of a loan switch, with Girona believed to be open to a loan agreement that could involve a fee in the region of £1.75 million.
A naturally left-footed player who operates mainly from the right flank, Asprilla’s profile aligns with the type of attacking reinforcement Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is keen to recruit as his side continue their push for winning a fifth consecutive league title.

The update was shared by Sierra on X, who said: “Yaser Asprilla’s (22) departure from Girona is imminent. The ‘City Group’ acknowledges that he is an important asset and that they haven’t gotten the most out of him at the Spanish club. There is interest from #WestHam, #Ajax, #Celtic, #Marselle, in addition to teams from Portugal and Germany.”

Meanwhile, Celtic are closing in on a potential move for Borussia Mönchengladbach striker Tomas Cvancara (Sandman is surely going to call him ‘Caravan’) as negotiations between the two clubs have been concluded with just the medical checks to be done today.
With a crucial league showdown against Hearts approaching, O’Neill has already indicated his desire to strengthen the squad, and this deal appears to be moving toward completion.

It’s starting to become clearer upon the profile of player we are looking for, in the positions that have to be addressed within our squad imo?
Players that potentially want to try and make a claim for a potential world cup squad place for themselves?
With the managerial situation as it currently stands, then loan deals where always going to be favourite, with a total rebuild expected come the summer.
The result tomorrow night is going to have a big bearing upon the remainder of this window also. The prospect of European football will be a bigger attraction for the profile of player we are hoping to attract, especially with a tight title race on offer also. Hence many high profile matches available, within our club with very high demands.
The downside is that only 3 changes will be allowed to our squad, if progress is made within the europa league. Looking like 2 of those potential changes have already been decided upon, so not much room available within our squad at present imo?
Our club is hardly an easy sell to many players, with the situation that exists within it either imo?
