Celtic ‘not in the best shape’ says Dundee United goalscorer

Dundee United centre-back Krisztian Keresztes believes Celtic are ‘not in the best shape’ after his side recorded a 2–1 victory over the Scottish champions at Tannadice on Wednesday night…

Celtic struck first early on through Daizen Maeda, but United responded when Keresztes drew the hosts level 15 minutes into the second half. Momentum quickly swung in favour of Jim Goodwin’s side, with Zac Sapsford netting the decisive goal minutes later.

The result marked a fourth straight defeat for Celtic, adding further pressure on manager Wilfried Nancy, while Goodwin praised his United side for capitalising on the Hoops’ complete capitulation once again.

“This is our job, we have to do it,” Keresztes said via Daily Record. “If you let yourself down a little bit, or you are not concentrated 100 per cent, they will have chances, and if they have chances, they will score, it’s that simple.”

“We have to reduce the chances, and I think we did pretty well against Celtic. They are not in the best shape, and we knew that. We can see the results; they lost three games in a row before us.”

“Of course, they are a really good team, but sometimes the luck goes away and you just have to suffer. This is football. We got a little bit better understanding for the second half. For sure, the manager is helping us a lot. I think he’s a really, really good manager.”

Keresztes added: We are hungry for success, and we did a great job against Celtic. We worked hard, and the result is there, so we are happy now. You have to always believe, because if you let yourself down a little bit, then they will have chances.”

“If you are not sharp enough, they will have chances because they are a really good team. Of course, they will have chances, but we defended really well, with a little bit of luck, but we worked for it. Have we turned the corner? We will answer that in the next game.”
