Potential injury concern for Celtic as Shin Yamada removed from bench

Celtic have been dealt with a potential injury concern after Shin Yamada was removed from the bench for this evening’s Como Cup clash with Ajax. The Japanese attacker was unveiled to Celtic Park at the weekend in the 4-0 win over Newcastle United and had been expected to be involved this evening.

Brendan Rodgers named the player on the bench. However, shortly before kickoff, Celtic reposted their team with Shin’s name removed. This will concern the manager, who has already stated that the club have work to do in the transfer window to strengthen in attack.

Shin was signed by Celtic from Kawasaki Frontale in a £1.5million deal and while Brendan gave no indication that he was injured when he spoke to Celtic TV prior to kick-off. It may have been an error by the admin team but fans on social media were less than impressed if it means that a new signing has been injured.

Despite this, Brendan has named a strong team as he looks to have his side in the best possible shape for the new season.

Celtic: Schmeichel; Tierney, Scales, Murray, Ralston; McGregor (C), Hatate, Nygren; Maeda, Idah, Yang.

Subs: Sinisalo, Doohan, Rice, Trusty, McCowan, Osmand, Carter-Vickers, Tilio, Inamura, Engels, Bernardo, Summers, Forrest & Donovan.
