Celtic slipped up in their title challenge after a home defeat to Hibernian. The visitors from Easter Rd won 2-1 on a controversial afternoon at Celtic Park as VAR reared its ugly head.
At 1-1 with around 20 mins to go, Celtic’s Austin Trusty was shown red after VAR told Matthew MacDermid to check the monitor. Then, there was a huge penalty shout that the team at Clydesdale House appeared to miss.
Blatant foul and shirt pull on Liam Scales, where he would've ended up in the area where the Hibs player headers it.
It is as clear a penalty as you will ever see. pic.twitter.com/HqqJVnVWo1

Moments before, the VAR intervened to have Auston Trusty sent off. The USA Internationalist appeared to hit the arms of the Hibs defender, something that MacDermid had a good view of. Replays make it all the more surprising that this decision was given as the Hibs player made a meal of it and bought the intervention from VAR. Richard King’s sending off last night might’ve played a part in the shambles that was the sending off of Trusty.
