Amongst everything that has been going on in the world of Celtic supporters of late, one thing that seems to have stuck out like a sore thumb is the abysmal lack of quality coverage by the broadcaster Sky Sports. Sky have never been a hot favourite with Scottish football fans and it is no surprise why. They couldn’t care less about the game up here. Contempt doesn’t do it justice.

The fact they haven’t decided to cover the title race with a broadcast of any of tonight’s games live, is merely another glaring example of the Anglo-centric mindset that pervades the ether in their London studio. Not content with supplying us with the likes of Kris Boyd and Neil McCann as pundits consistently for Celtic games, they now have the bare faced audacity to not showcase the games.

I have no idea what the stats are for Celtic away games been shown on Sky this year; quite frankly I don’t need the aggravation of those facts upsetting me even more than usual with the cowboys. The game in this country deserves better, no question about it. BT Sport’s time and dedication to the SPFL when they shared it a few years back drew a very contrasting picture between the two television companies. Chris Sutton and Michael Stewart’s level of analysis was night and day in comparison to the balding moron who inhabits the Sky Sports’ studio these days.

Take the fact that he should have gotten his jotters for the callous and cynical column after the Glasgow Derby, when he insinuated that someone should have hurt our captain’s already broken face, well no wonder the Celtic support have blown a gasket. The man is totally inept and is the main football brain covering the game up here. To be fair to the average English football fan, no wonder they think this is a pub league at times. The paltry coverage of it by the Murdoch empire is going a long way to damaging the reputation it was building with BT not that long ago.

We have already sold our soul and taken the thirty pieces of silver for the rights to our game. At least the powers that be have anyway. It seems futile complaining at this stage now that the Devil has come for his payment. The price we pay for an extra bit of cash eh?
