Jonjoe Kenny has been presented as a Celtic player after completing a loan move to the Scottish Champions. The 23-year-old has failed to break through at Goodison Park with Everton and spent a year on-loan with Schalke last season.

The right-back slot is one in which Celtic are desperately needing cover with Frimpong leaving for Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth Β£11.5m. Kenny is an exciting prospect and the club faced competition from Burnley to bring the player. The Clarets were quoted Β£8m when they inquired about the former England U21 earlier in the window but that fee may have dropped as Everton look to get the player off the books.

According to Anthony Joseph the deal will not include an option to buy so even if the player impresses, he may not be rewarded with a permanent deal in Glasgow’s East End. There would likely have been more enjoyment in Kenny joining the club had there been a change of manager in the last few days following the defeat to St Mirren at Celtic Park.

Joseph also said that this will likely be the last bit of business done by Celtic tonight. Despite knowing that a central defender was needed at the end of December, the club have yet to sign anyone other than a short-term loan signing. Neil Lennon remains in charge despite a promised January review.
