You always know when a new season is upon us, as it’s reflected in the headlines of the Scottish mainstream media and it as always all positive for theRangers and totally negativity regarding Celtic.

It’s just the way it is, and probably the way it will always be. It can at some times be admittedly annoying. But at the same time it can also be construed as a deflection from reality, as is quite often the case.

Over the weekend we had theRangers on cloud nine over a possible appearance in a newly formed World Club Cup to be held in the USA in 2025, guaranteeing them something in the region of £25 million, although it comes with conditions that they have to negotiate first.

On the Celtic front we had reports of Ange Postecoglou returning for our big strong man Cameron Carter-Vickers. The umpteenth former player he’s been linked to, at this rate we will have no players left with Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Jota all being linked with moves from Celtic to Tottenham or elsewhere.

In another gutter rag we had a picture of Jock Stein alongside one of the depraved individuals who committed horrific crimes several decades ago. There was no substance to it at all, as well they know but it plays well with their core target audience.

Talk about scraping the barrel and trying to deface the legacy of a great man and a Scottish sporting legend just to satisfy their sick minded warped audience. Celtic last week got tough on the mainstream media and should now ban this rancid rag once and for all.

If Celtic found enough in the negative comments Tom English and Peter Martin had to say about Brendan Rodgers last week to merit a ban then that threshold was easily smashed in that coverage of Jock Stein.

Enough is enough.
