Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that Celtic will not travel abroad for a winter training camp in January. Celtic have previously travelled to Dubai following the final game before the winter shutdown; however, it was expected that team would take in a camp in Europe this year after last season’s fiasco but the manager confirmed that they would remain in Lennoxtown.
When asked following the stalemate in Paisley whether he had decided against going abroad, Postecoglou said it made more sense to remain in Scotland in order to escape the risk posed by the Omicron COVID-19 variant.
“Yeah. I just think we will do our work here. It makes sense.
“We have to use our time wisely and we don’t want to put unnecessary risk on our players, or the club.
“It’s valuable time we have to get the team up and ready for the second part of the year.
“I think it makes sense to stay here.”
Ange confirms there will be no warm-weather training camp for Celtic.

Celtic will travel to Perth to face St Johnstone on Boxing Day before the shutdown brings some R&R to the threadbare Celts. Postecoglou will look to bring more faces into the squad as a means to strengthen into the second part of the season. The break will allow for the players currently on the treatment table to return to action, allowing the manager to rotate and share the workload.
