“There is no Green Brigade, and that helps. That helps a lot,” John McGlynn

Falkirk boss John McGlynn says his players will look to disrupt the atmosphere at Celtic Park when they head to Glasgow tomorrow afternoon, insisting his side will not be overawed by the occasion…

The newly promoted Bairns have made an impressive return to the Premiership, sitting sixth in the table after a strong run of results following last season’s Scottish Championship title win.

While Falkirk were convincingly beaten on their previous visits to Celtic Park this season, McGlynn believes his squad can pose a sterner test this time, encouraged by their competitive showing against the champions at Falkirk Stadium earlier this month.

Speaking via Glasgow Times, McGlynn said: “You couldn’t do anything other than respect Celtic, but I think, also, Celtic respect us a lot. Celtic are a different animal from playing here [at Falkirk] compared to playing at Celtic Park.

“However, we’re not playing against Martin O’Neill’s team of many years ago, with Larsson, Sutton, Hartson, Thompson, Lennon, Balde, Valgaeren – you can go on and on. We’re not playing that team.”

McGlynn added: “But we are playing a team who, for 20 minutes, destroyed a team (Utrecht) on Thursday and then got a little bit nervous, and then came out comfortable in the end.

“There is no Green Brigade, and that helps. That helps a lot, absolutely. So we’ve only really got the paper rustlers to start mumbling a wee bit amongst themselves. Hopefully, we can turn the crowd and get the atmosphere a little bit toxic and try to win the game.”

McGlynn’s remarks about how he believes his team can benefit from the Green Brigade being banned by Michael Nicholson should set off alarm bells about the desiderate weakening of Celtic’s title chances from the boardroom.

Nicholson has created this mess from his Green Brigade ban – seemingly extended indefinitely out of spite – to his world class decision making in bringing in Wilfried Nancy who dropped a dozen precious points and opened the door for both Hearts and theRangers to have realistic title chances.

Yesterday the Green Brigade posted an update which we covered on The Celtic Star.

Celtic were forced to settle for a point in their most recent Premiership outing after being held to a 2–2 draw away to Hearts at Tynecastle.

Celtic defender Auston Trusty is set to miss tomorrow’s game following his controversial red card last weekend. The Hoops hierarchy appealed the decision but it was dismissed.
